Warning: Suspicious information provider on the Japanese Government Scholarship programmes
According to several Japanese embassies in Africa, a suspicous organization provides information on the Japanese Government Scholarship programmes by email and the internet, and calls for applications. When some applicants contacted the organization, they were reportedly requested to submit a payment to the organization of a deposit or other registration fees.
The application and selection process for the Japanese Government Scholarship programmes are only through Japanese embassies, some Japanese consulates-general, and universities in Japan. In addition, the Government of Japan never requests that applicants pay a depostit or fees upon submitting applications.
Please be aware that organizations or individuals who charge a deposit or application fees have no connection with the Government of Japan. We recommend applicants should contact the Embassy/Consulate General of Japan in their area for information on the Japanese Government Scholarship programmes.
