Top quality Japanese Musk Melon is a popular luxury seasonal gift in the Sultanate. Exports to Oman in 2007, the highest in the last decade, reached JPY 115,000,000 (≒USD 931,500). Melons commonly consumed in Oman are light in taste with a firm texture, whereas Japanese Musk Melons have a rich aroma, as the ‘Musk’ in their name suggests, exquisite sweetness, and a melt-in-the-mouth texture.
