The Reception of the Japanese National Day

     The Reception of the Japanese National Day was held on 1st December, 2008 at the Residence of the Ambassador H.E. Seiji MORIMOTO.  This reception was to celebrate the 75th Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan.  His Majesty the Emperor was born on 23rd December, 1933 and is the 125th Emperor in the long Japanese imperial history.

     The Reception was among others attended by the following distinguished guests;

1.      Excellency Dr. Mubarak bin Saleh Al Khadoury, Special Advisor to His Majesty

2.      Excellency Hamad bin Mohd Al Rashidi, Minister of Information

3.      Excellency Dr. Rawiyah bint Saoud Al Busaidiyah, Minister of Higher Education

4.      Excellency Hamad bin Suleiman Al Gharaibi, Undersecretary for Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

5.      Excellency Dr. Mona bint Salem Al Jardaniyah, Undersecretary for Education Curriculum

6.      Excellency Ahmad bin Suleiman Al Maimani, Undersecretary for Commerce and Industry for Administrative Affairs

7.      Excellency Nasser bin Khamis Al Jashmi, Undersecretary for Oil and Gas

8.      Excellency Ambassador Nasser bin Khalfan Al Kharousi, Chief of Protocol, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

9.      Excellency Ambassador Afif Ayyub, Dean of Diplomatic Corps

     On this occasion some of the concrete examples of the Japanese co-operation in the field of Environmental protection and energy saving were displayed.  To name a few, (1) hybrid engine technology for automobiles specially adapted for the climate in the Gulf region, (2) a future proto-type of an electric car, (3) newly developed fuel efficient middle-range jet aircraft, (4) mist-catcher technology to produce water for irrigation and other purposes, as well as (5) Japan’s assistance to restore mangrove forests in Oman.  This exhibition was highly appreciated by all present.

     Also Japanese fresh fruits transported by air were presented on this occasion.  The guests enjoyed trying them together with other Japanese food.    

     The Royal Omani Police second band added additional flavor to the reception.
