Japanese cultural presentations at Muscat Festival 2011

 Muscat Festival, the largest annual cultural event in Oman, was held from 27th January to 24th February 2011. During which, the following activities were held to showcase Japanese culture (See also the Ambassador's short essay "Muscat Festival 2011".).

 

1. Participation in the Muscat International Festival for Arts, Heritage and Creativity

(1) The Embassy of Japan held an exhibition of the models of Japanese properties inscribed on the World Heritage list as well as traditional toys of Japan on 27th and 28th February.

    

(2) Ms. Kimiyo OKUCHI, a kimono designer and expert in Japanese traditional dress, and Ms. Michie OKAZAKI, a textile designer and expert in Japanese traditional indigo dyeing, held exhibitions of their works from 14th to 24th February.

    

(3) Ms. Okazaki won the first place in the costume art category of the International Arts, Heritage and Creativity Competition held on 24th February.

    

2. Seminar on Innovation and Creativity in Crafts

 Dr. Naoto SUZUKI and Dr. Akira UEDA, Professors at Chiba University, gave a lecture entitled “Innovation and Creativity in Crafts” on 19th February.
