Japan's National Day Reception

    Japan's National Day Reception was held on 6th December at the Residence of H.E. George Hisaeda, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman, to celebrate the 78th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.

    The reception was attended by H.E. Khalid bin Salim Al Saidi, Secretary General of the State Council; H.H. Sayyid Mohammed bin Salim Al Said, Chief of Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Sheikh Ali bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Mahrooqi, Secretary-General of Majlis Ashura; and high-ranking government officials, diplomatic corps, and representatives of private sectors of Japan, Oman and other countries.

    At the ceremony, H.E. Ambassador Hisaeda expressed appreciation for the support and solidarity demonstrated by Oman after the Great East Japan Earthquake, and underlined the safe situations of Japan after the disaster. Then, cake-cutting followed  according to a local custom, wishing for the health of His Majesty the Emperor and ever-lasting friendly relations of Japan and Oman.

    During the reception, photographs of Their Majesties the Emperor and the Empress of Japan and other Imperial Family members were projected on the screen to introduce Japanese Imperial Family to the people in Oman. In addition, to heighten the interest in Japan among the local people, footage of Nadeshiko Japan, Japan's world-cup winning women's national team was played together with the displays of models of World Heritage sites in Japan and posters featuring Japan's attractive aspects. With much interest in these, the guests enjoyed Japanese food and conversation with each other.
