| On 2nd December, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Bahwan, Chairman of the Saud Bahwan Group and exchanged views on cultural exchange between Japan and Oman. Sheikh Mohammed Bahwan has greatly contributed to building the friendly relationship between Japan and Oman, as Chairman of the Oman Japan Friendship Association (OJFA). |
| On 3rd December, Ambassador George Hisaeda hosted Japan’s National Day reception in celebration of Emperor Akihito’s birthday. Nearly 340 people attended, including members of Oman’s Royal Family, political, military, bureaucratic and business personnel, Ambassadors, diplomats and academics. |

| On 3rd December, Ambassador George Hisaeda commended the Ambassador’s chef, Mr. Hideki Miura, with a commemorative badge on behalf of H.E. Fumio Kishida, Minister of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Japan at Japan’s National Day reception. MOFA established the commendation system in 1985 for Ambassadors’ chefs who play a great role in international diplomacy by serving high quality Japanese food. Since 2008, ‘Master Chef’ designation is given to a brilliant chef. |

| On 7th December, the Embassy of Japan ran a Japanese booth at the Diplomatic Charity Bazaar hosted by the Ambassador’s Wives Group. The earnings from the bazaar were donated to Omani organizations dedicated to children with disabilities. |

| On 9th December, Ambassador George Hisaeda gave a speech at Regional Workshop on Environmental Sustainability of Mangrove Ecosystem. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has been providing technical cooperation to preserve Oman’s ecosystem by planting mangroves. JICA has also developed a Fisheries Control Centre and the Qurum Environmental Information Center (QEIC). |

| On 23rd December, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) to meet with Vice Chancellor H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al Bimani regarding a Japanese language course, student and academic exchange and so on. SQU is the only national university in Oman. |
