Both maritime nations, Japan and Oman have maintained a close cooperative relationship regarding maritime security, such as counter-piracy operations. |

On 20th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited a group of Japanese students currently visiting Oman with the cooperation of related institutions including the Oman-Japan Friendship Association (OJFA) and Sultan Qaboos University. |
On 14th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda hosted Japanese bassoonist Ms. Masami Massong at a salon concert at his residence. Nearly 30 high-ranking officials attended , including H.H. Lady Virginia Al Said and H.E. Mohammed bin Al Zubair, Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for Economic Planning Affairs, and enjoyed beautiful pieces such as Telemann’s Sonata and Mozart’s Concerto. It is important to highlight such talented Japanese artists, especially in international fields such as classical music. |
On 3rd March, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with H.E. Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. The Ambassador presented a commemorative photo taken with Prime Minister Abe during his official visit to Oman in January 2014 (with his handwritten signature) to H.E. Dr. Fuad Al Sajwani. |

On 11th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Dhofar University in Oman’s second largest city, Salalah, and had a meeting with Dr. Hassan bin Said Kashoob, Vice-Chancellor of the university. The Ambassador also made a speech at the opening ceremony of ‘Japan Day’ at the university, which included a Japanese Book Donation, the screening of Japanese movie ‘Shodo Girls (Calligraphy Girls)’ and an Origami workshop. |

On 23rd March, the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Oman Friendship Association (OJFA) hosted a travelling exhibition by the Japan Foundation called 'Japanese Design Today 100' in cooperation with Bait al Zubair Museum. Royal Family members, key government and business leaders, including H.H. Sayyid Kamel bin Fahd Al Said, H.H. Lady Virginia Al Said and H.E. Khalili bin Abdullah Al Khonji, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the inauguration ceremony. The Embassy of Japan works on showcasing Japanese culture. |
On 26th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) and had a meeting with Ms. Christina Scheppelmann, Director General of ROHM. They agreed to showcase more Japanese artists at the ROHM in future. |
