On 26th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with H.E. Dr. Salim bin Nasser Al Ismaili, Chairman of the Public Authority for Investment Promotion and Exports Development. The Ambassador presented a commemorative photo taken with Prime Minister Abe (with his handwritten signature) to H.E. Dr. Salim Al Ismaili.




On 5th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda, accompanying H.E. Koji Omi, former Japanese Minister of Finance, had a meeting with H.E. Dr. Omer bin Abdul Munem Al Zawawi, Special Advisor to His Majesty the Sultan for External Liaison.




On 9th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and his wife, Midori, hosted the annual ‘Japan Day for Ladies’ at his residence. Representatives of several women’s groups and Diplomatic Missions enjoyed Japanese calligraphy, an Origami workshop, a sushi making demonstration, a prize draw, green tea and Japanese hors d’oeuvres

On 10th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Duqm Special Economic Zone with other Heads of Diplomatic Missions upon the invitation of Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 12th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited the Japanese delegation attending 2014 UNESCO Global Education For All meeting held in Muscat to his residence.




On 15th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited Mr. Kazuo Ishiguro, Principal of the Japanese School in Oman and related members of the Japanese community to his residence. The Embassy of Japan is grateful to the Japanese school for playing a great role in supporting the family lives of Japanese expatriates as well as their economic activities.




On 18th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited Ms. Rekha Baala, Chief Editor of “The Woman” – a popular women’s magazine in Oman, to his residence. Midori Hisaeda, the Ambassador’s wife, had an interview and photo shoot for a features article in the magazine.




On 25th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the launch ceremony of Subaru’s new cars at the invitation of Sheikh Saad bin Suhail Bahwan, Chairman of OTE Group. Attending such events as the Ambassador of a high-tech and trading nation is one of the most important parts of the role.

On 25th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) at his office. JICA is currently promoting ‘Technical Cooperation on a Cost Sharing Basis’ for Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) graduated and oil-producing countries in the Arabian Peninsula, including Oman.




On 7th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited members of the “Oman Student Forum” and concerned parties to his residence. They gave a presentation about their trip to Japan in April.




On 15th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited the Mayor of the City of Hiroshima during his trip to Hiroshima in Japan, and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between Hiroshima and Oman. Hiroshima has maintained a close relationship with Oman for more than 20 years.




On 15th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Mr. Yasufumi Sasaki, Chairman of the Otafuku Group and Mr. Teruo Sasaki, Senior Advisor of the Otafuku Sauce Co., Ltd.(Hiroshima) and discussed ways to further enhance cooperation between Hiroshima and Oman. The Otafuku’s famous sauce for Okonomiyaki (savory pancake with a variety of fillings) is known for containing dates, one of the main agricultural products in the Middle East, in its ingredients.




On 15th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited Yasuhigashi Community Center in Hiroshima and had a meeting with Mr. Kazuhiro Fukushima, Chairman of the Hiroshima-Oman Friendship Association and members of the board. The Association stems from the 12th Asian Games held in Hiroshima in 1994, where the Yasuhigashi Community Center specifically backed the Omani National Team in the ‘One Community Center for One Country’ supporting movement. It is greatly appreciated for enhancing friendly relations at the grassroots level.
