Activities of H.E. Ambassador George Hisaeda (April - June 2015)

  On 4th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda attended the "Final Race 2014-2015" organized by the Royal Horse Racing Club.




  On 5th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with the board members of Mitsui Co., Ltd. at his residence.




  On 8th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda had a meeting with Mr. Shinya Nakano, new principal of the Japanese Supplementary School and concerned parties at his residence. The school is considered to be an important and fundamental part of the infrastructure of economic activities of Japanese nationals abroad. The government of Japan supports the management of such schools by sending teachers and Japanese textbooks. The Embassy fully backs its activities as well.




  On 9th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda had a meeting with representatives of a Japanese company stationed in Oman to his residence.




  On 11th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda attended the entrance ceremony of the Japanese Supplementary School in Oman and made a congratulatory speech. The school is considered to be an important and fundamental part of the infrastructure of economic activities of Japanese nationals abroad. The government of Japan supports the management of such schools by sending teachers and Japanese textbooks. The Embassy fully backs its activities as well.




  On 15th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda had a meeting with reporters and journalists from the Omani media at his residence. It is considered to be of great importance for diplomatic establishments abroad to foster friendly relations with members of the press to enhance their public diplomacy and increase mutual understanding.




  On 27th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the official inauguration of the SUR POWER PLANT. Marubeni Corporation of Japan is the largest investor in the project, which will be the biggest source of electricity in Oman.

  On 28th April, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda attended the National Day reception of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The picture shows the Ambassador and Mrs. George Hisaeda with Dutch children in traditional costumes.

  On 3rd May, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited H.E. Dr. Mohammed bin Hamad Al Rumhy, Minister of Oil & Gas with Dr. Daishiro Yamagiwa, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, who was on an official visit to Oman and discuss economic relations between Japan and Oman.




  On 3rd May, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited Dr. Daishiro Yamagiwa, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, who was on an official visit to Oman and representatives of a Japanese company stationed in Oman, and exchange views on economic relations between Japan and Oman at his residence.


 


  On 6th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and his wife invited H.E. Dr. Hamed bin Abdullah Al-Riyami, Chairman of Al-Riyami Group, Honorary Consul General of New Zealand in Muscat and his wife to his residence.




  On 12th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda took part in an interview by the Japan Times at the Embassy of Japan. The Japan Times reporters were in Oman for a number of weeks to produce a large supplement about Oman and its investment climate for readers in Japan. They interviewed many Omani officials during their visit. The Japan Times is the most widely-read English language newspaper in Japan and highly respected.

  On 12th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda were invited to a ‘Mitja String Quartet’ concert by the Embassy of Italy, along with other Ambassadors.




  On 14th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda hosted the colorful “Japan Workshop for Female Students” at his residence for ladies who are learning the Japanese language at Sultan Qaboos University and the Oman-Japan Friendship Association. The participants enjoyed an Ikebana (flower arrangement) workshop by a certified Embassy staff member, a sushi lecture and demonstration by Ambassador Hisaeda and his award-winning Japanese chef, and a photo shoot wearing Yukata (a traditional cool, cotton robe worn in summer in Japan).


 


  On 20th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda had a meeting with members of the dynamic Japanese Drum Group “GONNA”, who were visiting Oman upon the invitation of the Royal Opera House Muscat for a vibrant international music festival.




  On 21st May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda hosted a salon concert of the dynamic Japanese Drum Group “GONNA” for H.H. Sayyid Adham bin Turki Al-Said and Mrs. George Hisaeda H.H. Sayyida Basma bint Fakhri Al-Said, guests from political and academic sectors in Oman, senior diplomats, and Japanese residents at his residence.

  On 23rd May, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda attended the ‘International Rhythm Festival’ organized by the Royal Opera House Muscat and enjoyed an international percussion performance which included the Japanese Drum group ‘GONNA’.   On 12th May, Ambassador George Hisaeda took part in an economic interview by the Times of Oman at the Embassy of Japan.

  On 7th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda received Rear Admiral Hiroshi Ito of the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force at his office. In May, Rear Admiral Ito was the first Commander from Japan to be appointed to the Combined Task Force-151. The Combined Task Force-151 is deployed for counter piracy operations off the coast of Somalia.




  On 7th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda organized a lecture by Rear Admiral Hiroshi Ito of the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force for representatives of the Japanese community. As the security of maritime traffic is important for all, the Rear Admiral’s lecture on his missions as Commander of the Combined Task Force 151 and its counter piracy operations garnered close attention from the audience.


 


  On 8th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with Air Vice-Marshal Matar bin Ali Al Obaidani, Commander of the Royal Air Force of Oman, and Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Raisi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman. They exchanged views on Japan-Oman maritime security cooperation.


 


  On 9th June, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Madame Hisaeda visited the Japanese Language Course provided by the Oman-Japan Friendship Association. Japanese language teacher Ms. Midori Asoh also teaches at Sultan Qaboos University, where a Japanese Language Class was launched in February.


 


  On 21st June, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with Sheikh Mohammed Saud Bahwan, Chairman of Saud Bahwan Group and Chairman of the Oman-Japan Friendship Association. Ambassador Hisaeda conveyed his appreciation to the association’s ongoing support for enriching the friendly relationship between Japan and Oman, and they exchanged ideas on future intercultural events.


 


  On 24th June, Ambassador Hisaeda invited Mr. Kiyoshi Homma, Executive Officer & General Manager, Integrated Supply & Trading Dept., Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. to his residence for an exchange of views.
