Embassy of Japan's activities (December 2015)




  On 21st December, H.E. Mitsugu Saito paid a courtesy call on Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, Royal Oman Police. During the meeting, H.E. Mitsugu Saito expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Royal Oman Police, which have ensured the safety of Japanese nationals in Oman. When H.E. Mitsugu Saito requested Oman’s continued support, Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shraiqi assured H.E. Mitsugu Saito of Oman’s stability and continued cooperation.


  On 9th December, the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Oman, H.E. Mitsugu Saito hosted Japan’s National Day at his residence, which observes the birthday of His Majesty Emperor of Japan, 23rd December 2015. This is His Majesty Emperor Akihito’s 82nd birthday. The event was attended by His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said as the guest of honour. In his opening remarks, delivered in both Arabic and English, the Ambassador, who arrived in Oman on 2nd December, expressed his congratulations on the 45th anniversary of Oman, adding, “I would like to express my deep gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and the Government and citizens of Oman for their ongoing support and efforts in deepening the strong Japan-Oman friendship bonds”.




  On 8th December 2015, H.E. Mitsugu Saito presented a copy of his credentials to H.E. Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman and they exchanged views on Japan-Oman bilateral relations. During the meeting, H.E. Mitsugu Saito expressed his appreciation for the thoughtful policy of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, which has ensured the safety of Japanese nationals and Japanese companies in Oman despite increasing instability in the Middle East region. When H.E. Mitsugu Saito requested Oman’s continued support, H.E. Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah assured H.E. Mitsugu Saito of Oman’s stability and continued cooperation.
