Omani youth delegation participates in the 22nd "Ship
for World Youth" (1/2010)
On January 11, a national delegation of 11 Omani youths departed
for Japan to participate in the 22nd "Ship for World Youth" (SWY 22)
organized by the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. Prior to the
departure, the delegation called upon H. E. Seiji Morimoto, Ambassador of Japan
to the Sultanate of Oman, at the Embassy on January 9. The Ambassador explained
to the delegation the concept of the SWY programme and wished them well on their
mission. The national delegation leader, in turn, said that he and his
delegation hoped to learn different values and cultural sensitivities through
their interaction with fellow participants from various parts of the world with
a view to promoting mutual understanding among themselves thus contributing to
further strengthening of friendly relations in the global society. The meeting
was covered in a number of local newspapers.
The 11 members of Omani delegation, together with some 140
participants from Japan and some 130 participants from 11 other countries
including Australia, Bahrain, and Ecuador among others, will travel for 43 days
on board the ship named the "Ship for World Youth". They will be engaged in a wide range of exchange activities onboard the ship as
well as in the visiting countries, namely India and the U.A.E. They will come
back to Muscat on March 6, 2010.
