   “WadaikOman”

an emsemble of Wadaiko (traditional Japanese drum)

and Western percussions

The joint home concert “WadaikOman”, an ensemble of Wadaiko (traditional Japanese drum) and Western percussions, was held on January 27th at the Residence of H.E. Seiji MORIMOTO, Ambassador of Japan to the Sultanate of Oman.

The concert started with a welcoming greeting by the Ambassador. The total of seven musicians performed a fusion between the Japanese traditional drum and Western harmonic tunes. Mr. Wataru TAKEDA, teacher at Japanese Supplemental School in Oman , performed Wadaiko, while six talented musicians, all dressed up in Japanese Happi (casual wear for festival) with Hachimaki (head band), played western instruments including percussions, violins, flute and harp. They played a total of 11 songs for more than one hour. The last piece of "Blue Samba", a Latin Tune, was played as finale by all the musicians. A big applause by the audiences was given to the wonderful performance of the seven musicians.

At the cocktail reception after the performance, the audiences enjoyed pleasant conversation. They also enjoyed taking photos with each other and with the musicians.
