On 11th January, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited the Japanese delegates attending GCC Railway and Metro Conference 2015 as well as some representatives of Japanese companies who are stationed in Oman to his residence.



On 16th January, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the Japanese community Sports Day and made opening remarks, presenting gifts and cheering on the enthusiastic athletes!



On 20th January, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited members of the Japanese community to his residence to offer an opportunity to exchange New Year’s greetings.



On 25th January, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited Japanese delegates for medical tourism, headed by Dr. Toshiki Mano, Professor of Tama University, to his residence.


On 26th January, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited members of the Japan-Oman Club headed by Mr. Takeo Ishizaki to his residence and gave a lecture about current Oman. The club visits Oman every other year and this time, the patriarch was an 89 year old lady.



On 1st February, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with H.E. Ahmed bin Yousuf Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs and exchanged views on Japan-Oman bilateral relations.


On 2nd February, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the launch ceremony of SUBARU’s new ‘Legacy’ models. Attending such events as the Ambassador of a high-tech and trading nation is one of the most important parts of the role.



On 11tt February, Ambassador George Hisaeda visited the Royal Opera House Muscat for a Prague Philharmonic Orchestra concert with high-ranking Omani officials and others. On 12th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited business people stationed in Oman to his residence, where they discussed tourism in Oman.



On 15th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the launch ceremony of the Japanese course at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) along with H.E. Dr. Ali bin Saud Al-Bimani, Vice Chancellor of SQU. The launch of the Japanese language course, which has been the Embassy and Ambassador’s three-year-long dream, came to fruition following Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s official trip to Oman in January 2014 and a joint communique subsequently issued by the two governments. The Japanese language course will be of great significance in furthering the strong friendship between Japan and Oman.

On 16th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited the Ambassadors of China, Philippines and Malaysia and other diplomats to his residence.



On 17th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda and his wife Midori visited the “Heian Japanese Garden” located in Naseem Garden. The garden opened its gates in 2001 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s coronation, in close cooperation with Japanese and Omani public and private organizations.

On 18th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda and his wife Midori attended well-known rock singer Mary McBride’s live concert at the U.S. Ambassador’s residence. Rock music is one of America’s ‘soft powers’ which attracts people all over the world. Mary McDonald is touring the Middle East, Europe and Asia to promote American culture. On 25th February, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited members of the Japanese community to a security briefing at his residence. Diplomatic establishments abroad regularly hold security meetings with representatives of Japanese expatriate communities to enhance communication and ensure the safety of all Japanese nationals abroad.


On 2nd March, Ambassador George Hisaeda attended the screening and lecture of the ‘Japanese Short Films’ screening and made some opening remarks at the Oman Film Society. Mr. Seigo Tono, Director of Short Shorts Film Festival Asia, gave a lecture at the event and introduced five short films. The lecture and film screenings were also held at the Scientific College of Design on 3rd March.

On 3rd March, Ambassador George Hisaeda invited Mr. Seigo Tono, Director of Short Shorts Film Festival Asia, who was visiting Muscat to introduce Japanese short films, to his residence, along with representatives of the Japanese community in Oman.



On 8th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda hosted the opening ceremony of “Winter Garden : The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art” and made an opening speech. The exhibition consisted of artwork by young Japanese artists with an average age of 30.

On 9th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with H.E. Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar bin Mohammed Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and exchanged views on Japan-Oman bilateral relations.



On 18th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda hosted “Japan Day for Ladies” at his residence. Almost 60 ladies attended the event, including members of Oman’s Royal Family, and guests from diplomatic missions, political and academic sectors as well as university students. The event has been held annually in March for 3 years now, on the occasion of Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day) and this year the itinerary consisted of (1) Ikebana (Flower Arrangement) Workshop, (2) Wearing Yukata (traditional summer clothes) and a photo session with Hina Dolls, (3) A Sushi Lecture and (4) Tasting of Washoku (Japanese Food).

On 19th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda participated in the "Good France" Project and enjoyed exquisite French cuisine at a dinner hosted by H.E. Roland Dubertrand, Ambassador of France to the Sultanate, at his Official Residence. The “Good France” Project, organized by the French public and private sectors, hosted a dinner at French embassies around the world in 150 countries on 5 continents on the same day, serving French cuisine prepared by 1000 French chefs registered in advance.

On 28th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda and Mrs. George Hisaeda attended a classical concert directed by Maestro Riccardo Muti and enjoyed Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 and other pieces at the Royal Opera House Muscat. On 29th March, Ambassador George Hisaeda had a meeting with H.E. Kunio Katakura, former Ambassador of Japan to Iraq and Egypt, and representatives of a Japanese company stationed in Oman at his residence.
