Prof. Atsuko Kanehara, Expert in International Law, Visits Oman (February 8, 9)
On February 8th and 9th, Prof. Atsuko Kanehara, Research Director for the Canon Institute for Global Studies and Senior Fellow for the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, visited Oman as part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan’s program. During her visit, she delivered a lecture titled “The Houthi Rebels’ Attack against Japan-Related Vessel in the Red Sea -an Idea of ‘the Right to Protect Uses of Sea’ under the Law of the Sea-” at the Oman Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Academy. In addition to the lecture, Prof. Kanehara participated in interviews with Atheer and the Oman Observer.


Keidanren Business Mission visited Oman (February 11, 12)
On February 11th and 12th, a business mission led by Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), visited Oman to meet with H.E. Qais, Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion, H.E. Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, as well as the high officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Investment Authority, InvestOman, the Special Economic Zone and Free Zones Authority, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in terms of enhancing the bilateral business relations.
The Emperor’s Birthday Reception 2025 (February 12)
On February 12th, H.E. Ambassador Yamamoto hosted a reception to celebrate the 65th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. The ceremony was attended by H.E. Eng. Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals as the guest of honor and the members of Omani delegation, and distinguished guests representing various sectors, to honor this national day.
In his speech, the Ambassador highlighted the deepening cooperation between Japan and Oman across multiple fields, particularly through MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions, and Exhibitions/Events), and expressed his gratitude to all involved.

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Miyaji Attends Indian Ocean Conference (February 17)
Feb 17, H.E. Takuma Miyaji, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs visited Oman to attend the Indian Ocean Conference. He held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Badr Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as exchanged views with government officials.
He also attended the conclave with H.E. Qais Al Yousef Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, and visited Maritime Security Center.
