Opening Ceremony of the “Manga Hokusai Manga” Exhibition (July 2)

 On July 2, the Embassy of Japan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Youth co-hosted the opening ceremony of the Japan Foundation’s traveling exhibition “Manga Hokusai Manga: Approaching the Master’s Compendium from the Perspective of Contemporary Comics” at the Omani Society for Arts, under the patronage of H.E. Ambassador Khalid Hashil Almuslahi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Foreign Ministry.
 The exhibition will be open to the public from July 3 to 22, introducing Japanese manga culture by highlighting the connections and differences between contemporary manga and Hokusai Manga, which originated in the 19th century.
  

  
 

Ambassador Serizawa Visits Oman Film Society (July 13)

 On July 13, H.E. Kiyoshi Serizawa visited the Oman Film Society and met with Mr. Mohammed Al Ajmi, Chairman of the Board, and other board members of the Society, who welcomed him and provided a detailed overview of its diverse activities aimed at promoting local film production and spreading cinematic culture in Oman.
 The two sides explored opportunities for cultural collaboration between Japan and Oman in the field of cinema.
 The Ambassador toured the Society, where he viewed its screening halls and other facilities and enjoyed watching excerpts from some of the Omani films that have won international awards.

Ambassador Serizawa Meets with Mr. Hamed Al Naamany, CEO of Oman LNG (July 14)

 On July 14, Ambassador Kiyoshi Serizawa met with Mr. Hamed Al Naamany, CEO of Oman LNG. They exchanged views on economic relations between Japan and Oman.


Ambassador Serizawa Learns About “O [wa]” Frankincense Candy from Purewells (July 16)

 On July 16, Ambassador Kiyoshi Serizawa met with Ms. Tomoko Kojima, Managing Director of Purewells LLC, to learn about the background behind the development and manufacturing process of the luxury frankincense candy “O [wa]” sold by her company. The product is currently being sold at the Oman Pavilion at Expo2025 Osaka/Kansai.
 Ms. Kojima, who is also a Yoga Teacher, kindly shared some easy stretching techniques as well.


Ambassador Serizawa Meets with Chairman of Japan Karate Association Oman Branches (July 20)

 On July 20, Ambassador Kiyoshi Serizawa met with Mr. Said Al Hashami, Chairman and Chief Instructor of the Oman Branches of the Japan Karate Association, who was accompanied by Mr. Said Al Thuhli. During the meeting, the Ambassador learned about the history and current activities of the Karate Academy founded by Mr. Al Hashami, reaffirming the strong popularity of karate in Oman.
