Ambassador Serizawa Visits JS HARUSAME

Ambassador Kiyoshi Serizawa visited JS HARUSAME, currently deployed as the 51st Deployment Surface Force for Counter Piracy Enforcement (DSPE). He was received by CDR Makoto Ozawa, Commanding Officer of JS HARUSAME, and CDR Hiroaki Matsubara, Leader of the Japan Coast Guard’s Somalia Dispatched Investigation Team. The Ambassador was given a guided tour of the vessel and enjoyed conversations with crew members over the ship’s special “HARUSAME Curry.”
Japan’s counter-piracy operations in the waters off Somalia and the Gulf of Aden continue to play a vital role in the country’s contributions to the international community.
