[FAQ]
Q. Can I apply for this scholarship even though I don’t speak Japanese?
A. Yes, of course! You will be attending a Japanese language course at a designated university for an initial six-month period (scholarship paid) when deemed necessary, as is stipulated in the “guidelines”. We are waiting for passionate Omani applicants (you!) who are willing to learn the Japanese language and deepen their understanding of Japan.
Q. I am a non-Omani resident here and find it hard to go back to my home country. Is it possible for me to apply to the Embassy of Japan in Oman?
A. Unfortunately, no. However long you have been living in Oman, or whatever the situation may be, we cannot bend the rule for the sake of fairness among the candidates from all over the world.
Please make an inquiry at the Embassy of Japan in your country of nationality.
Q. I am an Omani currently studying abroad. Is it possible for me to apply to the Embassy of Japan in Oman from abroad?
A. Yes. However, you shall be screened out of the process if you miss the written exams and the interview that we will conduct within the premises of the Embassy of Japan in Oman. If you are currently studying in Japan, please confirm your eligibility referring to the “guidelines” “3. QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS”.
Q. After I am selected as a successful candidate finally by the MEXT, can I get any kind of support from the Embassy?
A. Yes! It is our pleasure, in addition to the arrangement of the visa and the air ticket, to offer you an opportunity to interact with former Omani students who studied in Japan with this scholarship programme where you can ask freely about study and life there. We also hold annual reception for the alumni, so you can keep in touch with them and get stimulated for your whole life! We conform to the regulations to combat with the COVID-19 pandemic and any gatherings are yet to be set, but we promise you to do our best to eliminate your concern before your flight.
