[Outline & Requirements]
The Embassy of Japan in the Sultanate of Oman now opens the application for the MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship for the Fiscal Year 2026 (Undergraduate / Postgraduate). For the details, check the guidelines.- No restriction on the field of study.
- Path is open to obtaining the bachelor’s / master’s / doctor’s degrees.
- Studies begin at a Japanese university from April / September or October 2026.
- Expected to contribute to the mutual understanding between Japan and Oman.
Undergraduate:
The applicant must be an Omani national born on or after 2nd April 2001 and have completed their studies at a school equivalent to a Japanese upper secondary school. Expected graduates are eligible.
Postgraduate:
The applicant must be an Omani national born on or after 2nd April 1991 and a holder of a bachelor’s degree. Expected graduates are eligible.

2. Complete and submit the necessary documents as stipulated in the guidelines online.

Please refrain from contacting us to confirm information that is already provided in the guidelines, or for trivial inquiries.Q. I am a non-Omani resident here and find it hard to go back to my home country. Is it possible for me to apply to the Embassy of Japan in Oman?
A. Unfortunately, no. However long you have been living in Oman, or whatever your situation might be, we cannot bend the rule for the sake of fairness among the candidates from all over the world. Please make an inquiry at the Embassy of Japan in your country of nationality.
Q. I am an Omani currently studying abroad. Is it possible for me to apply to the Embassy of Japan in Oman from abroad?
A. Yes. However, you shall be screened out of the process if you miss the written exams and the interview that we will be conducted at the Embassy of Japan in Oman. If you are currently studying in Japan, please confirm your eligibility, referring to the “guidelines” “QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS”.
Q. I am currently in the university and haven’t graduated yet. Can I apply for the scholarship?
A. Yes, you can. You will have to submit “Expected Graduation Certificate” by the deadline of application and submit the “Graduation Certificate” later by the time you leave to Japan.

[OUTLINE & REQUIREMENTS]
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to international teachers who wish to conduct research on school education at designated Japanese universities.The scholarship period will be from October 2025 to March 2027.Applicants must be born on or after 2 April, 1990, and hold a degree from a university or teacher training institution.A minimum of five yearsof teaching experience at primary, secondary, or teacher training schools (excluding universities) is required.Applicants must be willing to learn Japanese.After returning to their home country, applicants should resume their teaching career, applying the research conducted in Japan.
