Ambassador Yamamoto Attends Closing Ceremony of 14th Karate Championship (October 15, 2022)

On October 15th, Ambassador attended a closing ceremony of 14th Oman Karate Championship held at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex upon invitation by Shaikh Salem al Mahrouqi, Chairman of Oman Karate Committee. Under the auspices of H.E. Dr. Said Al Saqri, Economic Minister, the ceremony proceeded with many programs including kata demonstration, group performance by ROP Special Task Force, karate kata finals and awarding ceremony.
Oman Karate Championship was competed by around 300 karate practitioners below 20 years old across the Sultanate of Oman. The tournament took place for two days to win a trophy for kata and kumite. Attending the ceremony was a great opportunity to see that many people in Oman show respects to the spirits of Japanese traditional budo.

The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) Western Army Band Participates in the Military Music Festival (November 3-5, 2022)

JGSDF Western Army Band made an international debut at “Military Music: Oman and the World” from Nov 3-5 and celebrated 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Japan and the Sultanate of the Oman.
In honor of the band’s visit to Oman, Japanese Embassy hosted concerts for the Omani officials, ambassadors and other dignitaries on November 3rd and for local Japanese residents on November 5th.
Their performances were all excellent, and their renditions of representative Japanese songs contributed not only to the promotion of Japanese culture, but also to the friendship between Japan and Oman.
The Japanese Embassy shows our respect to all the band members for their high professionalism and sincerity to music, and hopes to welcome them again in Oman.
Japanese Embassy and GUtech Hold a Craft Art Exhibition “Contemporary Wood-Carved Netsuke” (November 13, 2022)

On November 13th, the Embassy of Japan and German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) held an opening day event of Japanese craft art exhibition “Contemporary Wood Carved Netsuke” at History of Science Centre on GUtech campus. Professor Dr. Michael Braun, Rector of GUtech, Dr. Hussain Al Salmi, CEO of Oman Educational Services and ambassadors in Muscat had a tour of exhibition by the guide of Japanese Embassy and GUtech volunteer students, and enjoyed the world of netsuke, which made the opening day a huge success.
During the ceremony, a book donation project by Japan Foundation to GUtech was introduced, and Ambassador Yamamoto presented books and a certificate to Professor Dr. Braun. We were convinced that relationship between the Japanese Embassy and GUtech would further enhance in the future.

Ambassador’s Chef Holds Cooking Class (November 15, 2022)

On November 15th, the Embassy of Japan, in corporation with Japanese Association’s ladies wing, hosted a cooking class by Mr. IGARASHI Yoshiie, Ambassador’s chef. Under the theme “Be a bit more creative in cooking with local ingredients”, Mr. Igarashi gave cooking demonstration of Japanese-style fried chickens and ramen made of pasta noodles. With a title “Excellent Executive Chef”, he will be more widely known by his admirable cooking skills.

On November 21st,H.E. Ambassador Yamamoto visited Sultan Qaboos University and met with H.H. Dr. Mona Fahad Al-Said, Assistant Vice Chancellor for International Cooperation. After conveying warm felicitations to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik on 52nd Anniversary of Renaissance, he was honored to see Her Highness’s enthusiasm toward cooperation with Japanese universities and they reiterated the importance of mutual cooperation for further promoting bilateral academic exchanges.
