Japanese calligraphers holds an exhibition “En (Karma)” (Dec.5-10)


From December 5th to 10th, Japanese calligraphers, Mr. KAWAGUCHI Yuho and Ms. KAWAGUCHI Seiren visited Oman to hold a calligraphy exhibition “En (Karma)” at Omani Society for Arts in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Japan-Oman diplomatic relations. Many modern calligraphy arts by Mr. and Ms. Kawaguchi together with artworks by Ms. Ingrid Van der Heyden, Belgian visual artist / co-host of the exhibition, and their collaborative works attracted many local artists and art lovers.
On 6th, at the opening ceremony held under the auspices of H.H. Sayyida Aliya bint Thuwaini Al Said, many participants witnessed dynamic calligraphy performance by the three artists. (Ambassador’s speech on the embassy’s activities on cultural affairs is here.)In the evening of the first day, Mr. and Ms. Kawaguchi met with students of Japanese supplementary school and gave a special calligraphy lesson for them
On 7th, a demonstration and a workshop were organized for the local residents. Every participant dropped lines on the paper freely and enjoyed their first Japanese calligraphy.
The Embassy of Japan cherishes the en established on the occasion and renews the commitment to further deepening the bilateral relationship between Japan and Oman.

On December 7th, Ambassador Yamamoto hosted a reception to commemorate 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Japan and the Sultanate of Oman. Many laureates of Japanese orders, the Omani government officials and those who have contributed to promoting bilateral relations attended the reception. At the ceremony, two visiting Japanese calligraphers, Mr. KAWAGUCHI Yuho and Ms. KAWAGUCHI Seiren wrote messages in calligraphy to represent the relationship between Japan and Oman, “Kinran no kei(金蘭之契)”(※1) and “Senri dofu(千里同風)”(※2)

Ambassador hosts a welcome reception for Fagiano Okayama to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relationship. (Dec.20)

On December 20th, Ambassador Yamamoto hosted a welcome reception for Fagiano Okayama (U-13), which visited Oman for a friendly match with the Oman National Youth Football Team to commemorate 50th anniversary of Japan-Oman diplomatic relations. It was attended by Omani guests from the Oman Football Association as well as the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth. The Ambassador encouraged the junior high school football players to cherish every moment for the path to cross again in the future.
Mr. Nishimura, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry visits Oman ( Dec. 27)


On December 27, Mr. NISHIMURA Yasutoshi, Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry had an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik. Minister Nishimura said, in light of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Oman in 2022, he wants to strengthen the bilateral relationship. Minister Nishimura attended the signing ceremony in Muscat along with Eng Salem bin Nasser Al-Awfi, Minister of Energy and Minerals on various LNG related agreements. Also, he discussed with H.E. Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi and Ms. Reem Omar Zawawi on pertaining to the good bilateral relations between the two countries and matters of common concern.
