Embassy of Japan's activities (February 2023)

On February 2, Ambassador Yamamoto received a call of Mr. Adil Alshanfari, President of Ship for World Youth (SWY) Oman and the delegation of nine members of SWY 34.  Oman has participated in the program organized by the Japan’s Cabinet Office since FY1990.  SWY 2022 adopts hybrid system of online sessions in November and December 2022 and face-to-face exchange programs in Japan in February 2023.  Ambassador Yamamoto encouraged the delegation to take advantage of the visit to enhance friendship and to share their experiences when they come back to Oman. 

        On February 13, Ambassador Yamamoto attended a ceremony to commemorate launching of a book about karate history in Oman authored by Sensei Farid Shuhaibi, Chairman of International Karate Academy (ISKF) Oman.   Under the auspices Sayyied Khalid bin Hamed AlBusaidi, former Chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee and in the presence of Shaikh Salem al Mahrouqi, Chairman of Oman Karate Committee and many other karate families, the event proceeded with speech by Sensei Farid, congratulatory message by Ambassador Yamamoto and a ceremony to dedicate first edition to His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tariq.  Mr. Igarashi, Ambassador Yamamoto’s chef, prepared sushi and kushiage for the guests to add a festive touch to the celebration. 

       On February 16, Ambassador Yamamoto visited Atheer upon invitation by Mr. Moosa Al Farii, Editor in Chief.  Mr. Moosa showed Ambassador the Atheer’s office and briefed on its activities.  Atheer provides daily news both home and abroad and distributes various topics including history and culture.  Its business ranges from online news to event management and media training.

        On February 19, Ambassador Yamamoto received a delegation from Hiroshima Oman Friendship Association. The association is a community -based organization to promote friendship between people in Hiroshima and Oman.  It has organized programs to visit by Japanese students to Oman and host Omani students in Hiroshima, and also established a forum for youth of both countries.  It has been a long time since the association visited Oman.

       On 22^nd February, Ambassador Yamamoto hosted a reception at Crowne Plaza Muscat, to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. The event was attended by H.E. Eng. Salim bin Nasser bin Said Al-Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals as the Guest of Honour, and a large number of guests.
